MP Rosado
The Rosado brothers use their twin status to address the identity of their works. Using drawing, photography and installations. Introducing us to a world of theatricality, ambiguity and fantasy. They start from anodyne spaces where they intervene and generate pictorial trompe l'oeil. The series "Scratches" refers to the technique of scratching paint after having covered it with layers of pigment or Indian ink. They create the artifice when it is dressed in a realistic appearance. Spaces flooded with water and sailboats plying pavements or ceilings illuminated by fluorescent tubes make up spectacular scenes that activate our imagination and invite us to fabulate.
In many of the installations, they themselves are the characters represented. They place the spectator in a theatrical space where they explore the limits of individuality. The mask is one of their usual elements in the figures, they add unknown and in some cases disconcerting elements to the scenes.
His works always seem to be suspended, like an image made in the air.
They have received several grants and awards, including the "Andalucía Joven" prize for the Arts 2001 from the Junta de Andalucía and the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud and the Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in New York 2002-2003.
In many of their works, the Rosado brothers stage a unique character, a sort of synthesis of space and time that separates the twins from their birth. This impossible character occupies places in improbable but very real situations.
