Italian two-seater sofa Soriana model designed by Tobia Scarpa and published by Cassina. Seat structure made of chromed steel that holds the sofa like a clamp-like grip. The sofa is upholstered in black leather and has an original stamp on the back. Italy 60s

Tobia Scarpa (Italy, 1935), son of the famous Italian architect Carlo Scarpa, began his work as a designer in the early 60's.  His wife Afra and he have designed for several of the most important Italian design firms, including the Soriana sofa model. His works are exhibited in the main museums in the world, chosen for several international design exhibitions.

Afra (1937-2011) and Tobia (1935-) Scarpa studied at the Venice Institute of Architecture. Tobia first worked for the Italian glass manufacturer Venini. Starting in 1960, the couple opened their own design office which they designed for numerous important Italian and international companies such as Flos, Gavina, B&B Italia, Cassina, Knoll International and many interior projects for numerous companies around the world. His work includes architecture and everyday items such as furniture and clothing.
